Boston is known as the city of champions, and it is rightfully so that they are called this. They have won 38 championships as a whole. Currently there is a lot of talent and a lot of promise for the future. In this article I will rank the top ten athletes in Boston. This will only include the four major teams, so no Revolution (sorry soccer fans).

Honorable mentions:

Christian Gonzalez, CB, New England Patriots.

In just four game with the Patriots last year Gonzo recorded a pick, 17 tackles, and a sack all while guarding every teams number one wide receiver. In the future I know he will make this list, but as of right now there is not enough production for him to make it. Look for him to have a big season in 2024

Tanner Houck, P, Boston Red Sox

This is Houck’s fifth year on the Sox, and this season is by far his best. He has shown that he can be a great starting pitcher. He will make this list if he keeps his production from thd early stages of this season for a whole year.

Kutter Crawford, P, Boston Red Sox

It is a similar situation for Kutter as it for Houck. Both have come on to the scene as quality starters this year. If he can keep up his great start for the whole season he will be on this list soon.

Tyler O’Neill, OF, Boston Red Sox

O’Neill joined the Red Sox in a trade during the offseason. He has done nothing hit since he got here, but I just have not seen enough to justify putting him on this list.

10. Jrue Holiday, G, Boston Celtics

Holiday, 33, was traded to the Celtics during the offseason after three seasons playing for the Bucks. He is taken a backseat in terms of offensive play this year, but he provides so much defensive versatility for the Celtics. He can consistently every position on the floor and consistently makes the right plays for the team. He is the definition of an unsung hero and was one the most underrated acquisitions of the offseason.

9. Derrick White, G, Boston Celtics

Before the season started ESPN released a top 100 players in the NBA list. Maybe the biggest shock from this list was the fact that Derrick White was not even ranked at all. He probably took this personal, because he put together his best season ever, averaging over 15 points and five assists, and was just .3 percentage points away from having a 50, 40, 90 season. He and Jrue Holiday make the Celtics one of the best defensive team in the league and they form the best defensive backcourt in the league.

8. Brad Marchand, LW, Boston Bruins

It is remarkable that 16 years into his NHL and Bruins career that Marchand still sees the same consistent production.  He seems to makes always make the clutch plays and makes it a living hell for other teams to play against him

7. Kristaps Porzingis, C, Boston Celtics

Porzingis after joining the C’s in the offseason became a much needed third scoring option to take some of the load off of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He can do it all on the offensive side of the ball, including scoring at all three levels. He is also an underrated rim protector on the defensive side of the floor.

6. Rafael Devers, 3B, Boston Red Sox

It is kind of sad that Devers is the only remaining player from the 2018 World Series. Devers has been and will continue to be a mainstay in the Red Sox lineup for years to come. His offensive production has been hard to match. He would be on the best third basemen in the league if he cleaned up his fielding, but with is offensive abilities it is hard to ask for more out of him.

5. Charlie Mcavoy, D, Boston Bruins

McAvoy is a true anchor on the ice for the Bruins. He can do it all for the Bruins and has. He is one of the elite defensemen in the NHL.

3. Matthew Judon, Edge, New England Patriots

Unfortunately, Judon missed most of the 2023 Patriots season, his pressure was truly missed. In the two full seasons Judon has played with the Pats he accumulated over 12.5 sacks both times. His ability to rush the quarterback rivals some of the best in the league. I am excited for his comeback season starting in the fall.

4. Jaylen Brown, G/F, Boston Celtics

Brown is one of the the best players in the NBA and he has improved every year since entering the NBA. After signing the richest contract in NBA history Brown did not disappoint. Earning another all-star appearance and potentially another all-NBA appearance. Brown is also one of the best defenders on the Celtics and is one of the reasons the Celtics are so good.

2. David Pastrnak, RW, Boston Bruins

Pastrnak is one of the best players in the NHL, and the numbers back it up. He is fifth in points, seventh in goals, and tenth in assists. The Bruins would not be where they are without him.

1. Jayson Tatum, F, Boston Celtics

Tatum has been the best player on the Celtics for years now and he has matured so much over these past couple years. The additions of Holiday and Porzingis have only made him better and have taught him to trust his teammates and to be more patient in games. He has sneakily became an underrated defender and facilitator in this league. Look for him to achieve another first team all-NBA appearance.
